A place where everyone knows your name

There’s something special about having a place to call “your place.” A place where the staff knows your name and knows your order the second you walk through the door.

I’m lucky enough to have found a few of these places, from taprooms to coffee shops. Here’s a little about what quickly become my go-to hometown resturant.

My girlfriend, Lindsey, and I felt lucky, and a bit overwhelmed, to find out there were so many well regarded places within walking distance.

Square Peg happened to catch our eye as the first restaurant to visit. It had plenty of good reviews online plus the allure of the Water St. Bar didn’t hurt.

The food, staff, and atmosphere made it a no-brainer to become our “spot.”

There’s often a bit of a wait when we arrive on Friday nights, but it’s never a problem. The wait at the bar is always enjoyable since the lovely bartender knows what we’re drinking as soon as we walk in. Drinks are always served with a smile here.

A round or two of House Lagers, freshly popped popcorn, and friends recapping the happenings of the past week are always worth looking forward to during the mundane work week.

In time, I’ve tried most items on the menu at least once and the beer selection is constantly rotating and features great, often local, options. Tap list highlights include offerings from Grey Sails Brewing, Revival Brewing, Big aLICe Brewing, Berkshire Brewing Co., and Captain Lawrence Brewing Co..

It’s great to have that sense of community, that sense of belonging in a new place you call home. I’m looking forward to more visits, of course, but also to more adventures around town as the weather warms and more businesses open their doors. I’m sure some of these adventures will include beer and will end up right here.
