Major improvements coming to Buzzards Bay Brewing

It’s no small feat for a brewery to celebrate two decades of operation in this industry. This year, Buzzards Bay Brewing is doing just that.

Along with celebrating a major milestone, the brewery is in the midst of constructing a new steel-framed pavilion area adjacent to the taproom.

The new structure will also feature a patio connecting the two indoor areas. This will greatly increase indoor capacity just in time for those crisp autumn nights.

Back in the winter of 2016, you may recall Buzzards Bay faced some pressure from Westport officials to cease all public captivity in their warehouse, which is just past the taproom. The brewery often held events in the back as well as just let patrons hang out in the area with the occasional food truck and some cornhole.

After the announcement, the taproom capacity was limited to only 45 persons at any time, but the indoor limit has since been increased to 90.

These capacity limits aren’t a big deal during the warmer months, since the brewery offers the most beautiful outdoor beer garden in the Commonwealth. However, in those rainy days or when the mercury begins to drop, it’s nice to have a little cover. Last year they offered a massive tent, but this new fully-enclosed space looks to be a major game-changer!

Last call: Buzzards Bay will be hosting its annual Summer Open House event this Saturday, June 30, from 1-8pm. This is a free event (obviously pay for your booze and food) where you can prepare for your holiday festivities.

Pearly Baker will be headlining the event, with Morrissey Blvd. opening beginning at 1:30.

Food offerings will include Fancheezical, Bootleg BBQ, the Flour Girls Sweet Truck, Cuttyhunk Shellfish, and more to be announced. There will also be a mini-farmers market including Round the Bend Farm, Silverbrook Farms, and Paradox Farm.
